 HART's mission is to empower
Residents and organizations of
Hartford to effectively address
Neighborhood issues.

HART is the oldest existing community organizing group in New England, representing neighborhoods on the south side of Hartford. Founded in 1975, HART has remained focused on community organizing as a means of increasing citizen empowerment and participation in events affecting their lives. HART's reputation for holding public officials accountable to the citizens they represent is legendary, winning them many friends and admirers over the years.


Current Programs at HART:

Community Organizing

HART is actively organizing in five of Hartford's neighborhoods:
Frog Hollow
Behind The Rocks/South West
Barry Square
Southend

Issue Organizing

HART is also actively organizing around important issues in all five of Hartford's neighborhoods:
Immigrant Rights, Problem Properties, Education, and Public Safety are the issues currently being worked on.

Home Ownership Made Easy (HOME)

We also offer a first time home ownership assistance program in English and Spanish:  HOME
